Radar encrypts polling connections between back-office machines and Restaurant365 services using Transport Layer Security (TLS). TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are formally deprecated due to known security vulnerabilities.
Starting June 10, 2026, Radar requires TLS 1.2 or higher for all polling connections to Restaurant365. This applies to all Radar polling deployments, including Hybrid Polling into Advantage.
Whether a connection meets this requirement depends on the Windows operating system version, its configuration, and any network devices in the polling path.
IT teams responsible for back-office infrastructure need to verify compatibility before June 10, 2026.
How TLS Protects Radar Polling Connections
TLS encrypts data in transit between the Radar polling client and Restaurant365's systems at data.ctuit.com. The version of TLS a connection negotiates determines which encryption standards are applied.
TLS 1.0 and 1.1 contain known security vulnerabilities and are formally deprecated across the industry. TLS 1.2 and higher use stronger cryptographic standards that address those vulnerabilities.
What Changes on June 10, 2026
On June 10, 2026, Radar enforces TLS 1.2 or higher for all polling connections. Connections that cannot negotiate TLS 1.2 or higher will stop polling after that date.
There is no in-app TLS error message. Polling failures caused by TLS incompatibility are silent at the connection layer. In Radar's Poll Status screen, affected business days will appear as not polled or missing, or will display only data from the last successful poll before June 10, 2026. Reports and dashboards that depend on polled data will show as stale until TLS 1.2 is enabled.
Important Note:
Polling failures from TLS incompatibility produce no error message identifying TLS as the cause. The Poll Status screen will show affected days as not polled or missing. Verifying TLS 1.2 compatibility before June 10, 2026 is more reliable than diagnosing failures after polling stops.
Reinstalling the Radar client does not resolve incompatibility. There is no minimum Radar client version for this change, any currently supported Radar polling client can connect over TLS 1.2. Problems arise from the Windows OS configuration or network devices in the polling path, not the client software.
Windows OS and TLS 1.2 Support
TLS 1.2 support depends on the Windows OS version and configuration. Three categories apply to back-office polling machines.
Note:
To verify TLS 1.2 is active on a polling machine, open Internet Options → Advanced and confirm "Use TLS 1.2" is checked. After June 10, 2026, a successfully polled business day in Radar's Poll Status screen confirms TLS 1.2 is working end-to-end.
Supported by default
Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2016 and later have TLS 1.2 enabled by default. Confirm that TLS 1.2 has not been disabled via SCHANNEL or Group Policy.

Supported with configuration
Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2012 support TLS 1.2 but may not have it active for the components Radar depends on. Registry changes or OS updates are required.

Not supported — must be upgraded
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008 (non-R2) are end-of-support and are not supported for Radar polling once TLS 1.2 is enforced. Machines running these versions must be upgraded before June 10, 2026.
Proxies, Firewalls, and Network Devices
Network devices between back-office machines and data.ctuit.com must also support and allow TLS 1.2 connections. This includes proxies, firewalls, and SSL inspection or filtering devices. If any device in the polling path blocks or downgrades the connection to TLS 1.0 or 1.1, polling will fail even if the back-office machine fully supports TLS 1.2.
Radar does not require special proxy or firewall configuration beyond allowing outbound connections to Radar endpoints over TLS 1.2 or higher. For configuration steps, refer to the vendor documentation for each device in the path.
