The Conversion Units page allows you to view and/or edit existing conversion units or create a new conversion unit.
Searching for a Conversion Unit
- Conversion Unit - To search for a specific conversion unit, enter the conversion unit name into this auto-fill field. As with any other auto-fill field, selections that match typed information will appear as you type.
- Base Unit - To search for conversion units associated with a specific base unit, use this drop-down field to select the base unit. “All” is selected by default.
- Rows per Page - Adjust the size of the Conversion Units table by selecting how many conversions to show per page. “50” is selected by default.
- Show - Select whether to show active, deactivated, or all conversion units. “Active” is selected by default.
- SHOW - Select SHOW to view all conversion units that match your search criteria.
Creating a New Conversion Unit
To create a new conversion unit, select NEW CONVERSION UNIT at the top left corner of the page. A “New Conversion Unit” window will appear where you will be able to create a new conversion unit.
- Conversion Unit Name - Enter the name of the new conversion unit.
- Description - Enter a description for the new conversion unit.
- Base Unit - Select a base unit for the conversion unit.
- Atomic Unit Value - Enter the atomic unit value. The atomic unit value is the amount of a base unit it takes to equal one conversion unit. For example, if the conversion unit is “liters” and the base unit is “volume (fl oz)”, then the atomic unit value is 33.81.
- Sort Order - The number entered in this field will represent the order in which the conversion unit is sorted. For example, entering “1” will cause the conversion unit to be listed first.
- SAVE / CANCEL - Select SAVE to save the new unit or CANCEL to cancel the creation of a new conversion unit.
The Conversion Unit Table
The Conversion Unit table displays the following information for each conversion unit: conversion unit name, description, base unit, atomic unit value, sort order, receive units, taking units, and recipe units. Various actions can be performed using this table:
- Base Unit - If you select an underlined base unit, you will be navigated to the Base Units page.
- Receive Units - The numbers in this column represent the number of receive units associated with the corresponding conversion unit. If you hover over a number in this column, a list of all the receive units associated with a conversion unit will be displayed. If you select a number in this column, you will be navigated to Receive Units page where you will immediately be able to view receive units associated with the selected conversion unit.
- Taking Units - The numbers in this column represent the number of taking units associated with the corresponding conversion unit. If you hover over a number in this column, a list of all the taking units associated with a conversion unit will be displayed. If you select a number in this column, you will be navigated to the Inventory Taking Units page where you will immediately be able to view taking units associated with the selected conversion unit.
- Recipe Units - The numbers in this column represent the number of recipe units associated with the corresponding conversion unit. If you hover over a number in this column, a list of all the recipe units associated with a conversion unit will be displayed. If you select a number in this column, you will be navigated to the Recipe Units page.
- Edit - If you select the pencil icon, you will be able to edit a conversion unit’s name, description, base unit, atomic unit value, or sort order. Select UPDATE to change your changes or CANCEL to cancel your changes.
- Deactivate - Select the red x icon to delete a conversion unit. In order for a conversion unit to be eligible for deactivation, it must not have any associated receive units, taking units, or receive units.
