Concatenation is an optional configuration used in Radar to assist with linking Modifiers to Recipes.

Modifiers in Radar act just like regular Menu Items for Recipe Linking. This means that a Modifier can only be linked to a single Recipe and will always deplete the ingredient (Inventory Item) by the set portioned amount of the linked Recipe.

Sometimes a generic Modifier that refers to multiple different ingredients and/or proportions is used at the POS level. For example, 'No Tomato' could have a different definition when applied to a salad than when it is applied to a sandwich or burger. Because generic Modifiers have multiple definitions, they cannot be linked to a single Recipe in Radar.

When generic Modifiers are present, either Concatenation in Radar or adding additional Modifiers in the POS is required.

  • Note: Depending on the number of Modifiers added to the POS, this may range from simple to very cumbersome for POS users.

Concatenation in Radar creates new Modifier Menu Items that reference the Parent Menu Item. This allows different Recipes to be linked for each Menu Item/Modifier combination and ensures accurate depletion of the ingredient and portioned amounts.

Example:

   Without Concatenation
   Menu ItemModifier
   Wedge SaladNo Tomato
   1/2 Wedge SaladNo Tomato
   Angel Hair PastaNo Tomato
